ST. NICHOLAS TENNIS CLUB
BRONX, N.Y.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Last weekend St. Nicholas had its annual open singles tournament. I do wish to thank those who participated and kept the tournament alive, however, there were fewer attendees than hoped for.
Over the past years we have tried to keep the St. Nicholas Tennis Club as we thought the founders of this club would have wanted it to be when it started back in the 1940's -- on 1 court, in the back of a church in Harlem on St. Nicholas Avenue. A tennis club that members/players could participate, have fun, and most of all, PLAY TENNIS – no matter what level. We provided tournaments for members and outside players to keep the interest in the game of tennis alive. We brought back the ladder, which has expanded to men's, women's and mixed doubles, all for the sole purpose of keeping the members active and playing what we think they joined St. Nicholas Tennis Club to do, which is to PLAY TENNIS.
While our membership has grown extensively over the past few years – which is a good thing – we have noticed a decline in the participation of our events.
We truly appreciate all the support that our members have shown over the years and hope that you will continue to be supportive, and, most importantly, ACTIVE MEMBERS.
Our mission is to keep this club alive and active. We look forward to seeing more of you at the next event.
Thank you again for your support.
Sincerely,
Linda Verdun President
